first game of the season
V had her first volleyball game of the season. Because her school only has one team for 6-8, they will be playing double headers against the public school teams as they have 7 and 8th grade teams...which means more playing time for all the girls which is really a GREAT thing! Our team lost to the 8th grade team but defeated the 7th graders. V did very well and has gotten her over hand serve to the point where they are always going over...so now..her coach is working with her on the positioning of her hips. I volunteered to work the gate, so miss KJ and i took money and sold chips and juice boxes. KJ enjoyed a wee bit of potato chip along with her garden vegetable and peaches...I enjoyed a Vitamin Water to help my cold a bit. Vitamin water is my uber Starbucks...they really do taste good and they are packed with more vitamins that i get in a day i think. and...as long as they continue to be cheaper than my diet pepsi...i'll stick with them...
you know me...short-arms!!
have an interview tomorrow at 5..will let you know how it goes..and will get some footage of Missy R at her volleyball practice.
....St. Giles
1263
he is the patron saint of 'The Lame' I was unable to find a patron saint of foot trouble...and as you'll read below, i'm not quite sure why Saint Giles has been named the patron saint of 'the lame'...but this is what i found when i did a search on Catholic Online. Will request special intersessions for: Mom, EB, V, BS, KD and Aunt M!!
A native of Assisi, Italy, Giles was one of the earliest followers of St. Francis, from whom he received the habit in 1208. He accompanied Francis on many of his missions around Assisi, made a pilgrimage to Compostela, visited Rome and the Holy Land, and then made an unsuccessful visit to Tunis to convert the Saracens. The Christians in Tunis, fearful of the repercussions of his religious fervor, forced him back on a boat as soon as he landed. He spent the rest of his life living in Italy, living from about 1243 at the Monte Rapido hermitage on the outskirts of Perugia, where he died in 1263. He experiences ecstacies, had a vision of Christ at Cetona, and is considered the most perfect example of the primitive Franciscan. He is spoken of at length in "The Little Flowers of St. Francis" and Francis called him his "Knight of the round table." Known for his austerity and silence, his "The Golden Sayings of Brother Giles" is noted for its humor, deep understanding of human nature, and optimism.
