Does Easter candy last 50 days?

I was newly educated in ways of the Liturgical Year yesterday. I sat down to read this months edition of Living With Christ and i read where the Easter season lasts 50 days....all the way to the day after my birthday...(quiz...anyone know that day?)
I also noticed that the Easter Baskets are getting down to the 'left over candy'. You know what that is....it is the jelly beans that have fallen to the bottom and gotten mixed up with grass..its the wrapped chocolate balls that are almost impossible to unwrap.. you know the kind that the foil peels off in sections rather than coming off all at once. like scotch tape on the wall (comment stolen from NPR this morning) then there are the hollow chocolate Bunny's...they look so adorable in their packaging...they are smiling...colorful and happy...but when you bite into them they crumble like a house of cards....leaving you with shards of chocolate that just don't fit in your fist very well..
I'm not sure if our baskets will last 50 days. Not because they will get emptied..but because we become lazy candy eaters...
the thrill is gone
someone already ate the last peanut butter egg
i've picked and picked and there isn't anything new...
there are more crumbs at the bottom that get stuck to my fingers while i'm smashing the grass around
mom will get tired of looking at it
and I'll throw it away.

hmmmmmmmmm i think Halloween has the same thing going on....same laziness sets in....somebody always eats 'the last one'...and it is never you!!
i'd better check my Liturgical calender...maybe i'm supposed to be celebrating that for 50 days as well.

Cheers to you all! i've eaten the last Peep!!! It got good and crusty just the way peeps are supposed to be eaten....i happily noticed that someone had opened the package on accident...allowing just the right about of air to speed up the demise of the wee little chick...
Someone will yell at me today about that....
Do you think they'll notice...if i throw all of the left overs out..maybe it will be out of sight out of mind????

Never fear....I just found Peeps for 25c per box and couldn't resist the temptation of purchasing 10 boxes. All of course are in the freezer for another day. They make wonderful smores and ohhhhhhhhhhh they are so good after a few seconds in the microwave.

Love & kisses....

Ok...it's a Peep's roast when you get back home. Amy F - bring your sticks. Y'all come.... we'll still need chocolate bars and gram crackers.
