ok, there IS something to be said for self fulling prophesy you know!!
my joke in the previous post about 'forgetting something' and then the comment from my mother saying that anything forgotten can be purchased upon arrival....
we got in late Thursday night.
i put everyone to bed and then stayed up with Pete and Mimi to catch up.
went to bed, woke up wondering what cute outfit i was going to wear that day...because i had taken GREAT care to choose cute outfits..NOT pack ANYTHING shlumpy (so i wouldn't be tempted to be my ol shlumpadinka self) when all of a sudden i bolted upright in panic and realized i had left ALL my clothes hanging in my closet. i had taken time to iron everything so i hung them with the garment bag close by so that just b4 getting into the van i would just kind of swoosh them together and zip it up.
by 9am i was at Kohls shopping for a bra (because of course i didn't HAVE one) and three outfits, plus a pair of shoes....now, i am NOT a regular Kohls shopper so mimi had to take the opportunity to poke fun at me when i arrived back at the house with really darling little gigs. She is a very loyal shopper of Kohls and is always receiving the preferred shopper coupons in the mail...so i think the feeling is mutual... For me, Kohls isn't mommmy friendly. the isles are too close together for a stroller and all hanging garments are within a child's arm reach...THEREFORE....well, you know...i'm at Kmart or Target.
ANYWAY.....thank goodness for credit cards and stores that open b4 10am!!! i was out of there in a little over an hour.
the fun poking didn't stop there of course...all to hear the story said "OH YEAH...SURE YOU forgot your clothes!!"
now, i'll admit that an act like that really wouldn't be beyond me...but..in this case i had just taken so much time to look good for y'all i had really given so much thought into what outfits i would wear each day. (not a normal behaviour for me)...
my parents thought it funny as well...since um....27 years ago as we arrived at my dormitory for my first year at BW we opened up the back of the borrowed furniture van to start hauling things up four flights of steps...and realize...i had forgotten ALL my clothes. the poor folks had to UPS everything as soon as they got back.
then,
my favorite ribbing of the weekend was when several girls said...
"""....oh, i'm disappointed...i thought you'd have your white jeans on tonight""""
i love you all our stalkers i just loved loved loved seeing you all at each turn of the beer wagon!! i'm so proud of you for your Casserole of the Month book and really thrilled that it brought in such a nice price! GREAT JOB girls..but then..i had no doubt about you!!! and in case you're wondering i DID not bid on the Vera bag...(it was this years pattern tee hee)(just trying to sound like a snot hear...not really a snot...am a bit of a bag snob,.....but not a snot...eh hem)
and thanks to whoever bid on the Able package and on my mom and bert's basket!!! the auction looked fabulous!! again, GREAT JOB!!
and the fabulously talented Almost Brothers sure did make our Almost 13 year old night/year with a Beatles Serenade of They Say its your birthday!!! can't wait to post that video!
prayers go out to dear friend Pete who decided to spend some time in the OSU burn unit rather than actually HOST the Bomb fire he had planned for hubby!! so glad that you are already healing!!! and don't you want to kiss the feet of the person that invented Morphine??? :)
shout out to my girlfriend Barbara....apparently she is a stalker and asked me who all the regular commenters are...!!! great to see you!! ( and by the way, did you happen to take our black mattress blower-upper with you when you collected the floats from the pool????)
to those of you that i missed b/c you were obligated elsewhere....kisses to you and i promise to see you soon...i think of you often just as you think of me!!
will add pics etc tomorrow...suffice it to say we had a SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS time!!
and BTW...the offer of $50 bucks to the first person to get the blankety blank white plastic chair out from the front of my house- has been suspended....i've been made aware that it is a necessary item....now,, the can of pop in the window is another story...but of course that could be considered B&E...so...we'll let it all go for now!!
oh, and just for kicks i'll share Matt S.'s comment to me...
he says..'there was a bunch of junk by the curb in front of your house a couple weeks ago...and i thought....gee...the B's are back'...
classic matt just classic....and i always felt my regularly scheduled Bulk pick up was a community service....all that junk wasn't always OURS you know...tee hee.....

S,
It was GREAT to see all of you again! I talked to Mimi a bit ago...Poor Pete...
No, I did not pick up your black blower-upper! The last I saw yours was when I picked my red one up that was laying right next to yours on the table (outside).
I'm happy that your trip was a safe one...and to all stalkers, please keep Pete(and Mimi) in your prayers.
Bless the B-team...
Barbara
