that is all i could think today as i drove to the big girls school to tell them that we won't be returning..of course Josh Grovan (sp) You lift me up playing on the radio probably didn't' help much...gulp!!
the principal was in and welcomed me into her office ...apparently Fr. Jerry had already told her that we were heading back home, but she wanted to wait for me to make the first move....last week we did get the girls homeroom assignments. Mrs. L said that she just didn't want us to think they had written us off. she is a really neat lady. i know that i would have been very comfortable with her for the next umpteen years.....I let her know what a wonderful experience both of the girls have had while on her watch. Both the girls just blossomed....discovered their independent sides and realized that people are pretty much people where ever you go. they became aware of just how strong they can be and i know they grew in their faith.
i just keep thinking that this was supposed to be our forever after. i remember how upset and out of wack i got by the time the moving trucks pulled in front of the house right about this time last year. i remember how pissed off i was that the house hadn't sold...and was sure that we would be in bankruptcy by christmas keeping two homes up. i remember thinking...'ok Lord...you must be in control when the renters showed up. i remember thinking that i would be so lonely..but i remember feeling so at ease with our 'future'. with the move to BG, we got health insurance,,we got life insurance,,,we got to develop a close relationship with our parish priest, we met southerners and baptists. I learned that these folks go to the Gulfshore of florida and rarely the Atlantic side. i learned that white girls can drive Escalades (sp) and i learned the TRUE meaning of the saying 'bless their heart'!! i learned what it is like to not have to lock your doors at night or hear about murders everyday at suppertime..I wonder if that has to do with the fact that men walk around with hand guns sticking out of the back of their pants...EVEN when they are dressed up and the ornament of choice for a pick up truck is a rifle. .i learned that asking others to pray the rosary with you wasn't such a weird thing after all. i learned that sometimes they say yes...
it was here that our son learned to go potty.
it was here that our daughter learned to walk - how to use a fork and how to hold a cup and to say her first word 'daddy'.
it was here that i exercised my cooking skills.
it was here that i went public with my love of writing..
it was here that i learned that it isn't just a protestant thing to share good news and shake hands b4 services.
i learned that the catholic community is the safest place i can be..no matter where i roam.
i learned to pray for our children's future spouses. (i would have never ever ever thought of that....but...doesn't it make so much sense..???? )
most of all...
hubby and i really learned to rely on just each other. each and every day it was the other that we turned to for each and every little thing. we had lunch together almost everyday. he was the only friend i had that knew the whole story.
Incredible...this past year has been an incredible time for both of us.
our forever after is just moving a few hundred miles north....
we can do that!
will be talking to Our Lady of Loretto however...Sister Mary Martha suggests that she might know a few secrets!!
