back on my bicycle

funny to me how you can be gone from somewhere or some situation for a long time...and then when put back on the same bicycle you just put your feet on the pedals and ride.
and so it is for me.....
yesterday...a typical Sunday for the most part for us. i went over to my mom's house to see the many many pictures that she and papa took during our home 'transformation'...the final product is so great...but i must tell you my heart ached (a good ache) when i got to see all the people in action that made it happen. Pete and Steve and Rick are owed our gratitude and respect and ALL my mother's new best friends!!!. The Knights are owed our humble support, our family and friends the promise of raising up our children to be the generous, other-centered humans just like they have shown themselves to be!!
the big and the small jobs...i notice everything...the fresh paint on EVERYTHING, the shelf paper in my cub hoards all the way to the toilet paper under our sinks...the bricks around the patio to the paint way up on the roof. i must mention the 'other projects' that will take away some of the financial burdens of our crazy mixed up life. those projects will afford us the luxury of taking care of the business at hand without the worry of having to call one of those crazy people on the late night commercials for financial advise. I won't be 'checkin' into cash' anytime soon!! My deepest thanks.
woops....got away with myself for a minute...

after hanging out with my folks, i headed back to the house to get my potluck item prepped. yep, its Sunday at the pool and anyone that wants to can participate in potluck. each family brings their meat and then a side item to share. the men mind the grills and us hot chicks prep tables and the children. over the years several women have developed their own 'must have' dishes....corn casserole and edema me to name a couple...i haven't found my 'best' side so i switch up.....yesterday i did an easy 'kid' favorite...mac-n-cheese.
it felt so good to stroll into the pool..stop at the snack shack to say hey to who ever is working and then head over to the baby pool to drop our bags. kids run off to find friends and the wee ones squeal with excitement, i find a mom and start talkin'...paradise right here in Emo!
for kicks..i sat in on the Pig Roast planning meeting...the second annual Pig Roast will be next weekend...we missed last years inaugural party so i'm really looking forward to seeing the poor swine up close and personal!!
hm...wonder if this will be 'the' pivotal moment in any of the teenage girls lives, you remember....when they become the pseudo vegetarian..???
from there..home....
after a quick trip to Kohls to get ms. R some school shoes we were back home and folding laundry.....my bycicle comes with a laundry basket!!!
