really quick for all my stalkers out there..
we have literally been off the grid for three days.
winds came up from Ike late sunday afternoon and by sunday evening
our city was without power.
an interesting situation of course..and cuz i'm the thinker...i've spent tons of brain time thinking about the impact on our daily lives that the 'loss' of ...voice/data/cable services.....without email....some without cell phones....
but i'll be damed if i didn't get called into work on monday evening b/c the homecoming dresses were flyin' off the shelves....(i couldn't go in...but they tried)
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
so, now i'm back....
hubby, in his little crippled way made it out and found us a couple bags of ice
after the power had gone out...that helped us save our milk....the girls and i set about pulling freezer food that could be cooked the next day cuz it would thaw out in the cooler...we hard boiled our eggs so we could nosh on those the next day....on the whole...i think we set ourselves up pretty well that night.
except for Lu, we were all in daddy's room...sprawled out on the floors and recliners and couches listening to the crickets...(and the late night car alarm that went on....and on.....and on.....and on.....)(of course the freaks came out to take a look to see what they could steal)
Monday morning the neighborhood came alive with brooms, rakes, mowers and chainsaws. our big girls hopped right to it and got the front yard raked and then moved on to chop up the large branches that had come down from a couple trees in the backyard. (we now have some starter wood for our fire bowl)
blessings from hardship....don't worry...i won't go there...would be too windy for my daughter and my aunt who antied up and told me i get 'windy'...:)
I had planned on starting up a rosary circle monday morning at 9:30 also. b/c of the damage i didn't make any calls..but one young mom came round the corner with her double stroller 'just to see' if we might be praying after all....and.....
another blessing from hardship...WE did!!! sat right down in the backyard at the table and said our rosary!! (yes..i will admit to the sin of pride when we were done) i'm so happy that she came by....plus..i got to practice 'running' the show. back home in BG...friend Barb was always in charge....and she was able to keep things on track...LOVE LOVE LOVE that!! so...Barb and Brandi...i think you would have thought we did a good job yesterday...and i know you were thinking of me!!!
i won't go into my absolute melt down in CVS today...or the meltdown i had with the oncology nurse and their prescription hotline......however..can i tell you that insurance companies and pharmacies and doctors do NOT communicate!!!!
i simply embarrassed myself by breaking out into tears right there in the damn store ( no i didn't swear..another admittance of the sin of pride)the good news is i was able to secure the pain meds that my guy needed and was home in time to make dinner and get one of the girls to practice...thanks to nana for running pick up and chipotle stop!! (hubby wants to be sure that our friends down at GG in BG know that we are not talking about them) ('hi ladies' from hubby - misses you on chemo day)
hubby is now enjoying a movie with mr. k!!!
i'm trying to print some pictures from some scanned images...not working....totally grainy....yuk.....
so i'll sign off for now...

Is that tree on YOUR house??
I am not at home this week so will have to wait and see what Ike did to our place. I am really, really glad we had the huge Ash tree cut down in our back yard early this summer.
Hope Doug is doing well, and you are all getting settled back home.

Justin had the same Ike and Tina comment as he was rolling into TX :)
We were lucky and didn't lose power at all, or have any damage - but had a lot of trees down in the 'hood.
You are swearing again and your one stalker doesn't like that!
