administrative day

when i became a full time stay at home mom right after Lu was born...i quickly found out that your day is NEVER your own. no more long lunches to get your hair cut or do a quick gift shopping and never ever anytime to do paperwork. like bill paying, document filing etc. it was a challenge for me to get on top of the where when and how of household administrative stuff. (i must say that i've had boss' that must have understood...b/c i know i did this type of paperwork in between business related paperwork while on the job...a big shout out to them after all these years..)

anyway..

b4 moving to KY mr. b had desk in the basement and i kept paperwork in that desk. once we got down to KY we put that desk in our bedroom and then i really had a safer place to keep paperwork...purchased for myself some expandable folders...created a budget book and was able to carve out time to sit down and pay bills once Lu and Mr. K were down for their naps.
fast forward a year...computer table out in public, no more tandem naps, and tons more paperwork.
dealing with a terminal illness created so much paperwork that i put together a binder just to keep medical records/results and notes in the same place. you know...b/c the doctors NEVER really know what meds you are on and even what you may have done at the last visit. (not my girls at Graves though)so it was always helpful to keep copious notes on each visit/phone call/procedures and lab results.

i've had to begin transitioning my binder to hold much different documentation.
i now have to switch my administrative focus to 'the after' terminal illness.
i have to have plenty of copies of the death certificate/social security/medicaid.
i have to actually call creditors to tell them of doug's death.
i have to keep copious notes of course...b/c as sure i sit here someone will loose something and some 'thing' will get lost in the shuffle.
today i made my first phone call. i had to tell the lady on the other end that my husband had died. i got thru the phone call alright i guess.

i did not cry...doug would be happy about that.

Trust me, some of those people and creditors you will have to call or re-send documentation multiple times. I have been thru it. It becomes very frustrating so the right mind set will have to be there or for me sometimes the mindset was not there and the people on the other end after about 10 calls had to deal with it!
