computers will be the bain of man's existence

my friend mimi (who you all got to know last august) and i have been friends since the late 80's. she was the telcom manager at the college i attended and she hired me as a work study student.
she and a few friends came over saturday to hang out...actually the husbands were supposed to do some minor work for the bteam...but.....they didn't quite get to it...no harm no foul though.
mimi gets a kick out of telling people the story of the interview she had with me.

given the fact that Apple is celebrating the 25th aniversary of its computer...i'll share this funny story.
mimi tells it this way....

she told me about what she did - managed all the voice networking on campus and then there was this side job that she had to do each month and it was keying the health insurance bills for retired employees....she pointed to the computer and i, in my infinite wisdom said 'i can't touch one of those,,the computer will be the bain of man's existence'...then she told me that it was a requirenment of the job....and well, heck, i needed a pay check...so...thus began the bain of my existence...

us girls got a kick out of remenicsing about the early computers.....the Gold key, the teeny tiny screens on the teeny tiny monitor boxes....the introduction of the mouse...of course,, then we laughed at the big bag phones we all dragged around....and then there were the pagers...

happy birthday apple computer....i'm not smart enough to say that the computer has really been the bain of man's existence....i just know that i couldn't live without one now....not never......

have a great week!!!
