Thank You Vetrans

This weekend i had planned on going to the cemetery to see our memorial. When i found out that the stone had not arrived i wasn't sure how i would handle the day. But, handle it we did....

started the day off with ms. r preparing the pretzel salad for the Memorial Cook Out/Pot Luck at the pool. That done, we all got dressed for Mass. I usually take Mr. K to mass just the two of us. He tends to be better behaved when it is just the two of us...and then the big girls go to a different mass together. It isn't perfect...but it won't last forever...anyway, today we all went...and we went to mass at the Cathedral here in town. Mr. K and i will often come here...the mass we attend is an Organ mass and the organist plays the usual hyms, but they often sound very macabre, and it is a very effect way of keeping him a bit 'scared'. (i know,,that probably sounds awful...) my secret however is that the interior of the church has super duper giant pillars...and i make sure that the two of us sit right next to the pillars and this gives mr. k a little place for his 'dudes' to climb and adventure... (again,,probably sounds awful).

after Mass we headed on down to the cemetery. I had purchased little gem donuts for us to eat at daddy's camping spot....those little white donuts were a saturday morning staple for douglas and mr. k. each and every saturday..those two would walk or drive around the corner to our local One Stop and they would get a bag of those little donuts. they would come back and we'd all eat a few..

it was just the way it was.....

i also had gotten a package of four flags....one for each of the children to place at daddy's spot.

as we got closer i could feel the big girls and i tensing up. it has been since Christmas since the girls had been out there. we wound our way through the cemetery and up to St. Elizabeth...just as we were getting ourselves situationed along came some friends from the neighborhood...so sweet....they had been visiting their family and wanted to pay respects to Mr. B. it was so so so sweet....and then soon after that came Doug's mom and step dad. It was a party....

the kids planted their flags and we ate our donuts. i had forgotten to bring a rock to lay down...remember i had suggested that when anyone goes to visit they leave a rock...well doug's mom had some pennies...so....rocks have switched to pennies. pennies are more fitting anyway...douglas loved coins...

on our way out we stopped to see my Gram and Great Grandparents....we tried to find my uncle peter...but i just wasn't successful...i need to take the time and stop in the office and get all of my family mapped out and then go visiting....while we were there...mr. k decided to give his GG an air guitar concert....i had to take a picture..i have not ever seen him do this.....

visiting over we headed back home to change and head over to the pool.....
ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
heaven on earth....eastmoor style....
