rain rain go away

i love a good thunderstorm....especially now that we have a porch. ms. r and lu are out there snuggling on the sofa...so sweet.....

the show last night was wonderful...i am sad that i will have to wait until the fall to start my date at the theater again with the kids....mr. k asked to go with me last night....i'll have to see if there is something he'd enjoy on next years line up.

instead of going to supper beforehand, ms. r decided that she wanted a starbucks date at Barnes and Nobles. she wanted us to just 'sit and relax'. sounded good to me...so....we went up to Easton.

we each had a drink and talked about summer goals...one of her's being improving her math skills. after our drinks we headed up to the children's section and found a new mystery for her to read...a new series The Mysterious Benedict Society (she loves mystery genre) and then a math workbook plus a resource math book for mom....check out the title.... math was never my strong suit...as a matter of fact..because i attended three different highschools i never finished a full math or science series...it always seemed by the time a school guidance counselor finally got to the bottom of his 'W' pile i was too far gone into the year....so...i struggle with math...For mr. k i got a couple workbooks, one of which is a Maze book. we struggle a bit with holding our pencil correctly (he's left handed and i'm not)so i'm thinking drawing through mazes might help ...also picked up a rhyming book as he is always asking me if certain words rhyme.



i looked at the summer reading table for grownups but abstained from purchasing b/c i have not finished my current read Where God was Born. i've not been a loyal reader like was in BG....i have to go to bed earlier i think....then i can lay there and read myself to sleep....

this weekend we will be celebrating ms. V's 14th birthday...she's had a busy month or so hasn't she???? speaking of, she is enjoying summer gym at high school very much. she is making a ton of new friends and the summer volleyball league has started up...this week there weren't enough freshman for a full court so the JV players joined in....talk about being nervous!!! i have to laugh...they spent all of this past school year being on top of the world (8th) graders and now they are relegated back to the bottom of the pack....

kind of like life eh???

gotta get myself ready for the gym...Ben the trainer awaits...

btw Pops came thru surgery fine...pain from the tightening of the eye muscles...good pain meds to help....has post op appt. this morning....
