it was months ago when family friend Paul had indicated that he had tickets available...i knew that i had heard her music on the radio..NOW that i'm the Big Country music lover i thought i'd go....i also knew that after years of teasing Brett S about her love of country music that i owed it to her to take her with me. so,,,,i got the tickets in april and that was that....
Brett and i were pretty pumped to go last night....getting out as grown ups...knew that some of my family would be at a Breast Cancer Fundraiser later in the night and perhaps we'd go there....its been a ton of time since i'd been to a concert and going to see live performances is a favorite of mine..so away we went.
well first...i drove to the wrong concert hall....
i suppose we should be proud of the fact that Columbus has so many places to hold concerts...but when i pulled into the Arena District and didn't see any cowboy boots wondering the streets i knew i was in trouble...
Sure enough....
needed to go up to OSU...
so....fighting the traffic on Olentangy we pursued our concert seats.
thankfully still good on time we walked what i'd say was a mile to get to the arena....
i had to take off my sexy white shoes and walk barefoot it was THAT far away...
but..you know...it was a country concert...
figured walking barefoot could just be considered
HOT....and...
i was in White shorts.....:)
once in...we got a beverage and sat back to enjoy a really lovely show.
Gloriana and Kellie Pickler were the opening acts....
super job by both.
The one hit by Gloriana that is playing on the radio is a favorite of mine so that was nice to hear live.
Kellie Pickler i was not familiar with at all...and i was pleasantly surprised by her...she is no bigger than a minute....but you can tell she has a story to tell..
then came the headliner...
Ms. Taylor Swift...
man...she is a tall drink of water..
and super duper tiny.....
i was unaware that her songs were mainly about highschool angst
and as she continued to sing her set i was drawn further and further back into my own high school years.
feeling like an outsider
feeling unwelcome
feeling like a looser
knowing that you are not part of THAT group
falling in love
HEARING i love you for the first time...
HEARING 'lets just be friends' for the first time...
praying for a Prom date...
being convinced that i knew it all...

oh boy.....wouldn't go back there to save my life.....not for a minute....
wellllll...perhaps there are some minutes that i would revisit...
.
an over riding theme of hers is that she uses REAL names when writing her songs. The boys that have otherwise not been so nice have been made forever bad boys by virtue of her song lyrics and her popularity. a situation that apparently has been a bit upsetting to some. i would love to write a Tell All someday....:):)
the show was a success....she and her entourage put on a great show.
afterward we headed to see my family out at a bar on the east side where my cousin Christopher works...they hold an annual Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser....a big deal in my family as you know...
great evening...
and....please let me introduce my second cousin Lizzy who is working her way up to the big stage of Country Music!! enjoy!!
