parting ways for a week or so.

today B and B and I got together to have one last hurrah before Barb and I take off for the Christmas holiday. Barb is heading to Cleveland and then NY and of course you all know where i'm headed. Brandi and Barb and I have gotten together once a week since...i don't know..a while...i so much enjoy our time together praying the rosary, talking about kids and life in general. last week instead of having a gift exchange, we had a prayer exchange. we each made a copy of our favorite prayer for each other. we read the prayer and then explained why we thought it was cool!! I now have an official copy of the Morning Offering to tape on my front door and the full text of the Serenity prayer. I shared a prayer from my mothers prayerbook called A prayer for husbands. it is one that i started to pray when we first moved here....it is a good 'coverage prayer'..meaning it hits all the good points that if you didn't have a copy of it you might otherwise miss..the book itself douglas got for me on one of our Engaged Encounter weekends years ago...ANYWAY..... today, we got all or almost all the kids together for lunch at brandi's house. her son G, who is in V's class had bragged about his mothers chicken and dumplings so much that we asked Brandi to make it for us....and boy oh boy was he right! it was fantastic!! the chicken was perfectly seasoned and the dumplings were stick to your ribs good! Thanks Brandi!!!We also enjoyed an impromptu Christmas carol when lighting the advent candles...Thanks Barb...here are a couple pics from our visit...i think we had a total of 10 kids at the table at one time or another!!

you can see Mr. K getting his first exposure to "man cave kid style"...G took Mr. K by the hand to show him the play station!! so cute!!! us moms just awed over that picture!!

on other fronts,,,,i got all presents wrapped...Santa will be delivering to our tomorrow. we are expecting Fr. Jerry for dinner...i wonder if i can con him into bringing the presents through the front door and say something like..'look what i found'??? i'd be willing to be he'd be game....he comes from a huge family and had tons of nieces and nephews. i have to tell you though i'm feeling the pressure..NOT from having a priest over..but listen to this. when he called this evening, we were going through deciding whether he was going to come over tonight and watch The Grinch Movie (Jim Carry version) and have cheese and peperoni OR come over tomorrow night. he decided that he'd come over tomorrow and have dinner but 'would have to eat and run' because he is spending tomorrow night writing his Christmas Homily....ok, so the great Foot in Mouth disease that i suffer from came pouring out and i say to him....'oh, i'm so impressed, you write a new one every year'!!!! (yes, you can laugh now, Amy Z did when i got to this point in the story)...Fr. says, 'well yes, i don't want to be the priest that says the same thing'...and of course i finish dropping the lead balloon with..'oh, who remembers from one year to the next'.....

so Fr. says to me..."well you know what sheri,,,i'll bet i get my inspiration from hanging out with you all tomorrow night"!!!!!!!!!!
OH YEAH!!!! am i the dumbest person you know???? Rose, is this the reason you tell me that i am very weird but for some reason people just like me?????
oh Lord i could just die...and it even seems worse as i sit here typing it....
don't ask me what i'm serving either!!!
hugs and kisses to you all
good night!!

Hi Sheri,
I just had to write to tell you that is something like I would do. My mouth sometimes goes before the brain is fully engaged.
I have started following your blog since you contacted Ken Janzen.
I also keep your family in my prayers. Have a safe trip
Have a Blessed Christmas.
