they came in friday afternoon ...we had the KFC i have been craving.
they went to pick up big kids at school and i prepped the cabbage rolls.
everyone home....needed a couple things from kroger...so bert and i ran over for 'a minute'...by the time i got back my rice filling had burnt...
cabbage rolls NOT good....and on the way back from picking up V from practice i went through the Arby's drive thru for every one.. so much for the cabbage rolls.
by friday evening douglas began to feel the effects of the Zometa he was given. we had been told that he would not have side effects from the Avastin..but weren't told that he was going to get the Zometa also.
this down turn was unexpected and disheartening...but we pumped him full of arby's and pain meds and willed him to sleep.
rose says she'll have her mom make some to freeze and then bring to myrtle..
saturday R had practice, afterward we all went to mall...of course everyone got a little somethin' somethin'...i went ahead and got my birthday present early and got a new Vera for the summer. not a backpack though,,,just a small tote. now that i only have one set of diapers to carry i'm not in need of a ton of room,.
douglas was still feeling the effects and doing his best to manage his pain but was my hero and kept the wee ones at home so that i could go out to dinner with my folks. which, if you are a stalker here you already know that ms. R got sick. brought her home and put her to bed next to her father.
sunday with two of them down for the count. mom and V and i went to mass at the univeristy parish since First communion was going on at our parish...figured it might be a tad crowded. i was happy to see this church and recognized some people from the girls school and also a lady from jazzercise. i must tell you it is a big deal when you see another person at church that you didn't know was a Catholic. we are truly the minority...we make up 5% of the population here in our town...
anyway back home...
bert and i then ran over to toys r us. one of the running jokes in my family is that the newborn through almost 2 usually get diapers when the rest of the kids are getting toys or movies. when nana and papa come bearing gifts...it is the smallest one that gets diapers, formula, wipes...etc. and i tease them that when they leave the wee one tells me how mad they are that they 'only get diapers'.
well, this weekend Lu got a toy!! (diapers and wipes too) a great big kitchen!!! i was so excited i couldn't stand myself. i had called around to the consignment shops on saturday and no one had a kitchen set. i know these are coveted items anyway but i was hopeful..so we picked out a nice one and split the cost. that made me feel better about the price.

we bring it home...and papa begins to put this thing together....oh man,,,it took a good two hours and an electric drill to get it right...but with the help of R they did it and it was perfect. here are some pics.
Lu loves the kitchen set...it was a good idea...and mr k plays with it as well...i think this will be a long lasting toy...
afternoon comes...daddy gets a little shuteye before we are off to see Mr. K's spring concert. so cute..and quick!! love that...daddy got to go see him and i know that was special.

pizza hut for dinner, watched some tv and then everybody to bed.
yesterday morning V went to school, R was still under the weather and stayed home.
nana and papa left just before lunch.
when i grow up i want to be just like them!!!!
they are back home now and we are all back to our daily grind as it were!!
we aren't expecting any visitors next..so if you are thinking of coming down ... the month of may is a good bet!
come the first weekend in June we will be headed home for FunFest!!!
hurray!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The kitchen set is the best! The kids will definitely get LOTS of use out of it. Mr. K. is too cute in his play:)
