Four years ago right now i do believe we were sitting in an operating room at the hospital...waiting to bring our little boy into the world. we had been full of anticipation for so many months....hubby's little man....we had spent a lot of time buying blue things and i was busy thinking how happy i would be that hubby would have his own little shadow....
His birth was my first C-section so i was a bit nervous....but once the drugs start flowing...i was able to calm down. or at least until they strapped my arms to boards on either side of me. i recall that disturbing me quite a bit...but not enough to push down any of our excitement.
The big girls were at school waiting for the phone message that their little brother was 'here'.
As Dr. D pulled him up and out i could see his mucky little body...and then i could see that he was peeing all over the place. the nurses whisked him away to the french fry warmer as doug rubbed my head and tried to warm me up as the cold shakes from the drugs began to set in....
we cried together right there....and i could see that doug was torn between sitting with me and running over to see his Son....i looked at him and told him to go to his Son....
He was so proud!!!! He is still proud today as our guy turns four. Mr. K has done quite a lot in his short life....moved a long distance twice...learned how to manipulate his big sisters and then welcomed a little sister into his life.
Happy Birthday Mr. K!!!
We love you so much!!!

as a side note...i want to tell you that as i was writing this post i took a call on my cell phone from KY. It was a former patient of Doug's wanting to find out how he is doing. I remember seeing a message on a piece of paper the other day with this guys name on it ..so i knew that this was not his first call.
This wonderful man told me how he misses my doug so much.
that if it weren't for doug he would not be walking today.
He is a double amputee and had been working with other prosthetist in the past..but when he met My hubby his life changed. when doug went to see him in the rehabilitation unit...doug got him up..and over to the office where doug spent 'three hours foolin' around and talking about guns'. He is now walking with a cane instead of a walker. he went on to tell me that he feels like he knows me and the children from doug talking about us so much. and he said..'oh, doug loves his guns'...that made me smile!!! How True!
I have two guys to be proud of don't' i?
have a super day...
