lordy lordy....we left the house at 10 and didn't get back until 4....all for a 10 minute drip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!and a little alone time....so..i guess it wasn't so bad after all. :)
we did get some answers however...changed the pain meds, do need to reschedule his dental apt. and decided that 'roids' are great!! he had to take a mini dose of steroids yesterday, today and tomorrow....and wow...no wonder athletes take them...the difference in hubby's stamina and agility is night and day. too bad it will only last through saturday.....we asked for more...but they were hesitant to discuss it...the chemo 'room' is different here than in BG. In BG all chemo recipients sat around the perimeter of the room. some slept, some watched Little House on the Prairie and some brought their own DVD player (my guy). from time to time i think they all would talk...maybe share their 'experiences'. It was like a little club. The snack table was right in the middle of the room and filled with some pretty good stuff and the staff/nurses/doctors were all accessable....very very kind...i don't think i ever told you all about the time when i had to take the wee ones to one of hubby's apts...the girls up there went crazy with help...crackers and juice boxes all around...and then even a small 'take home bag'. they even sent us some cancer related coloring books to help us talk to the kids....we reminiced a bit this afternoon..we were able to kind of take stock of the journey thus far. now that we are 'experts' in Cancer and Cancer care we are able to be a better 'consumer'. Gee, wonder if they do Nielson ratings on the care and feeding of the really sick??
Here at the James...each chemo recipient sits in their own semi-private room. each with a TV and recliner and a large picture window view. there is one uncomfortable seat for the chemo recipient's 'caregiver'...(you know,,,i don't' think i like that word....it doesn't' really have an opposite...like care-taker-awayer...so can it really be a adjective/adverb? Perhaps my new stalker at the Paper will answer that question?? hmmmmm
We did meet some nice people today...really really like his nurse practitioner T. she is right up front and strait forward...you know i love love that!! everyone else is pretty 'clinical and sterile'. could just be that we are getting to know these folks....as some of you might recall..our second CAncer related apt. went to Hell in a hand basket real quick...so i guess i'm feeling like we are at least up ONE.
...and i have downloaded Sarah's speech but i haven't read it.i know there are those of you out there that are waiting for me to comment.i can tell you that i'm laughing at the whole First Dude label. could be good for all those men who think a wife making it 'bigger' than them is intimidating and emasculating!!! Heck, in our own lives together..hubby and i switched roles in order to keep the family moving forward...i think it was good for both of us...kind of leveled the playing field... i did however see a snipit of Rudy....wow....he's gotten kind of...i don't know...gross or maybe crotchety would be a better word....???
once we got back home...got some Bob's in my guy's belly and the wee ones got to meet their new sitter we were able to just kick back a little bit....
and this is when i got to catch my boy with his BaBa!!
When mr. k was born, in addition to agreeing to have an upshuren, we would talk about how someday she would find GI Joes and matchbox cars all over her garden..and then how in several more years she'd be digging up old plants and run across those ol' GI's and Cars. When we moved, that was one of things that weren't going to be part of our happy ever after....
well lookey lookey...it just might happen after all!! (and for all those who've never raised a boy...YES...he is STILL in that naked stage!!)
