because i was not at the OSU center last thursday when hubby and Mr. K did their video...i had no real idea of how things would go...i had seen the list of questions..but i was a good girl and did not ponder them too deeply for fear that i'd go and try to put words in my hubby's mouth. (although, i do keep making him promise to tell me ALL the things i've asked over the years..you know the questions..like..why did you fall in love with me...what is your favorite thing about me..what is the best thing we've ever done together....)(i HAVE to assume that i am not the ONLY wife that asks their husbands those questions...and gets a kind of blank stare back tee hee.)
anyway, i knew that hubby had been uncomfortable in the little chair they put him in to sit next to mr. k..so i knew enough to create a comfortable place for him to sit, hide the O2 bottle, and get him dressed in something that really spoke to the kind of dresser he has always been.
SO: cleaned up an area in the front room, cleaned all that was behind it...created some mood lighting with a trash-to-treasure item and pretty much prayed reeeeel hard that Lu would sleep all the way through!!
When the videographer got here, right on time i might ad, he walked in with two big gear bags of equipment. i know i had a dumbfounded look on my face...i was expecting a hand held type camera with a big'ol padded microphone sticking off of it...NO indeed....this guy proceeds to bring out light diffusers, lamps with gels in them...little teeny weeny microphones that you pull up through your shirt so you don't see them....and moved the couch on an angle but complimented my having added the lamp behind :)

Each of the girls got their time alone with daddy and the interviewer. Ms. R went first...the girls were given a quick look at the questions and had somewhat of an idea..but i had not prompted them at all other than to say..if there is something you want to ask your dad...NOW is the time to do it!! while the interviews were taking place..i sat in the backroom with HG and Food on!! luxury!!!
I will not share what the children said about their interviews (of what little they did tell me), the DVD will be theirs...to share or not share...they will forver and ever get to HEAR their fathers voice when ever they want to!!
I can tell you that my husband was/is courageous and honorable and so in love with his girls!!!
I just keep thinking how blessed we are...i know...you're thinking she is on drugs...(and i'm not talking about my happy pills)
but...you know...this crappy discease has at least given us time to say and do most of things we would want to have done. we have been able to ask all the questions..ponder the future TOGETHER...kind of like vacation..you know that by such and such a time you will have wanted to do thus-n-such.
A stroke (God Rest Gene Watts soul by the way, a Senator that i had done an internship with died suddenly last night of a stroke)(oh and guess what...he was a republican!)or a heart attack or getting hit by a bus does not give you any of those things...it just leaves behind people who wish they could-a, would-a, should-a!!
yes, although i'd change it all in a heartbeat...is it so bad to be thankful for the time??? I think i forgot to tell St. Joseph that today..(too busy beggin for my miracle ..better go back :)
getting back on track....the interviews i think were good! I think that this artist is really onto something and i suggested that he get his business plan in order!! it is my experience that artists have a hard time putting a dollar amount on their talent. anyway,,,i just know that when the word gets out about this...it will be huge!!! oh,,,and did i tell you...the wife of the artist is submitting this project to none other than OPRAH!!! not our interviews necessarily..but the concept of doing an interview with a loved one that is terminally ill!! i did let the guy know that I..YES I am Oprah's biggest fan!!!
talk to you all in the morning...well actually not...going on field trip with ms.R to the State House...and then will grab hubby and head on up for a doctors apt. so i'll update you thurs afternoon!!

the kids (and you) will cherish those videos for always...
I think about the crossing guard here in town that was killed by a dump truck. cancer, death - it all sucks, but man THAT sucks. no warning, no time to prepare, no time to cherish what you've got. We have to make our blessings out of what we can cling to and you guys have done just that.
Thanks for sharing I know you all will cherish the videos and the time you have together,Hope you have fun at the state house.
