last night hubby had an episode of labored breathing so we called the squad. took us to OSU ER where were well taken care of until a wee bit ago (8:30am). throughout the night hubby had a chest CT to determine the cause of the breathing episode. it appears that another nasty blood clot has found its way in and has taken up residency in the left lower lobe. this clot presumably has prevented the lungs from exchanging the proper amount of blood gases...thus preventing him from getting the proper amounts of blood oxygen traveling about his body. the right lung also decided to act up and has filled with fluid again.
To rectify these things we will proceed with the transfusion previously scheduled for today....get in line to get the pleurdesis done (pretty much this is when they force scar tissue between the pleura so that it attaches itself to the lung there by leaving no available space for fluid to collect.
we're told we'll be here for a while (at least until sunday).
Here is the step down unit at OSU.
The James was full.
i'm comfortable with this as there is intensive monitoring going on and hubby has a private room!!!! yippy!!!
I want to tell my girls how proud i am of them for soldiering on this morning and going on into school. they both had tests today and were up late getting studying done and homework since we had just a wee bit of excitement. i was able to tell them what what going on last night so i hope that they are at ease..or at least at as much ease as they can be!! Ms. V also has a scholarship test to take in the morning...so we need to pray for some anxiety reduction and clear thinking for our girl!!
hey, can someone call Fr. Lumpe and maybe have him grab the girls and just see if they want to vent???? i think they can stand to do some venting!!! they are not so much angry yet.....
hubby just took a bite or two of some food. he is very uncomfortable taking off the oxygen mask.which of course you need to do to eat..it makes him feel panicky....so when we get this blood gas thing under control i KNOW He'll feel better emotionally as well as physically. good thing we took that lamaz class...the breathing has come in handy...:)
i think now that we are in our room..i'm going to head down to the cafeteria to get some java....
you can email me if you want..i'll get that throughout the day...also....i just charged up my cell phone.....
talk to you when i know more!
