a busy weekend...and from the mouths of babes...

do your kids every say something that you are SURE you would say?? and then when they SAY it...it sounds....it sounds dumb, silly or possibly even inappropriate? (i'm not talking about when the four year old says sh*t)

my ode to douglas on friday continued on through the weekend.....
saturday i went on line and purchased a hand truck for myself...there have been so many times when i've needed to just move something and my first thought is ''when doug gets home i'll ask him'. (now of course you can only imagine the reality bites moment i have after i think that....) heavy lifting has just been something that he always did...whether it was for us or for my parents....HE was always the muscle.

well, i figured that i could either continue to ask for help from 'the guys' or i could do something to help myself...so....i ordered myself this:

i'm proud of myself that i got something so versatile. Douglas is probably wishin' i did that sooner!!!

on sunday as i was trying to clean the puke out of our recliner i discovered a puddle on the floor..mid way between the dishwasher and the sink. i wiped it up with a towel thinking of course that someone had spilled water.
again, i returned to the kitchen and there was that darn puddle again...i wiped it up a second thinking to myself
SELF "you've gotta keep an eye to see what might be causing that"

the third time the puddle was discovered it was by ms V who said...'mom...there water on the floor in the kitchen'

so, SELF marched into the kitchen for the third time and through open the doors under the sink to find a large puddle of mucky water all over everything in there...and could see how it had made an exit to the right and onto the floor.

SELF swings into action...pull everything out from under there...mop up the water with a towel...grab a flashlight and start feeling around the pipes. sure enough i could see how the water was spilling over the top of one of the 'spinny things' attaching the U part of the pipe....Lefty Loosy and presto...it came off and i found it full of gunk that i had put down the disposal.....

guess i forgot that douglas would have said...leave the water run for a while to push the yuk through...or even better...my douglas would have said throw that in the garbage and don't send it down the disposal....

i dumped and Righty Tighty the spinny thing. ran the water..no leaks... ALL BETTER!!

so while i was being 'pamela anderson' (tool time for those of you not old enough to get that) my daughter looks at me with a supportive smile and laughs...

'OVARIES TO BALLS MOM?'

I laughed in total agreement b4 realizing what had just come out of my daughters mouth...That is totally something that i would say...of course i wouldn't be as discreet and would have shouted it out at party of goody too shoes or something..

You know...she is right,,,,my ovaries have to descend in order for me to keep this ship a'float. I have to realize that with a bit of confidence and google How To i'll be just fine....

and heck, perhaps the next thing i catch on fire just might be in the kitchen and i can just throw it on the floor!!! ha!!!
