update on the Bertie (nick name from nana)

i know it makes him so mad when she calls him that..or probably he secretly loves it (like one of those between a husband and a wife) but he'd never admit it...:)

anyway....got to see him briefly this afternoon. his color was good and his humor was back. they made him get up and down a couple times today. a good thing... but not easy. he wasn't able to eat anything at the time that i had to leave..but i'm hopeful that he did get something down. he was watching a football game when i left. there were no beds in the step down unit today so he is still in the cardiac icu. we hope that he gets moved tomorrow so that the kids can see him. it will be good for the kids to see him 'well'!! ya know what i mean??

i just can't get over the fact that the art of bypass surgery is so routine it is like tonsillectomies..the fact that the recovery is so painful due to the cracking of the sternum...you'd think that they'd be able to figure out how to get in there w/o such an archaic entry...

ehum....
