yesterday i put the big girls on a flight out to NJ to stay the week with pops. i had debated on dropping them at the door (after checking a bag of course at the curb)..i had printed boarding passes and already checked them in via the web...
but then a little voice....
ha!! might have well been a booming choir b/c the rest of the day was crazy...
got them up to the checker counter to get their bag checked in ..that cost $15...first bag on delta was free, and then a lady comes by and asks the girls ages....i am then told to move to a different line to 'pay the unaccompanied minor fee'. apparently on NWA...if a child is under 14 years of age...they will be escorted gate to gate whether you want/need the service or not...that service is $100 each flight.
i was upset to say the least. southwest has never asked/offered.
Ms. V asked 'if they are going to put a binky in my mouth.'
i paid the fee and we went down to the gate...we were rushed by that point so the girls walked right onto the plane.
by the time i got home and put Lou down for her nonny...i checked the status of the flights....
CANCELED!!!
just as i read..my phone rings and its big sister telling me....they are already being escorted to a 'day care' room and will be told what comes next.
they were then held there captive for the duration,.sans a trip to get little sister some chicken strips.
SIX hours later - one false start and an hour on the runway they landed in NJ...
pops was right there at the gate.....
talked to them this morning (guess who called ?????")) they are on their way for bagels and then to a Safari....(wonder if that means a stroll along the boardwalk tee hee.......)
missing them already....
