A good weekend!!

We honored the memory of my darling douglas well this weekend!!
Friends came all the way from Nashville to help celebrate his life and we were covered in prayer from Canada to Iowa all the way out to New Jersey and then down to Florida and over to TX.

Saturday night doug's closest buddies gathered to share in a game of bowling...
they shared funny stories of Douglas and how he lobbed that bowling ball of his down the alley...
Sunday night the big girls and i stayed up and watched Patriot..one of douglas favorite movies and cried....cried ourselves to sleep...after spraying his Polo all around our bedrooms...
Today, we slept in and woke to share a bag of powdered donuts. those silly donuts became part of our saturday ritual while we lived in BG. The Jr. Foods was within walking distance and doug and koen (and anyone else that wanted to go) would go grab a bag or two.
after we ate....
we headed out to Hobby Lobby and we each picked out an artifical flower picks to place in front of the memorial stone.
we listened to QFM96 (the rock station that douglas loved) as we pulled in to the cemetery.
as i stopped the car and we all piled out...the kids noticed a wreath by the grave site...
my mom and bert had gone out yesterday to place a Son In Law wreath to surprise us today. I lost it pretty much then and my peachy girl held me. so sweet!!
we put our flowers in and talked about why we chose them...we placed our rocks...the wee ones ran around and we enjoyed the sun for a while.
from there we headed over to 'the cake house' (what Lue calls it) and enjoyed a leisurly lunch. Victoria honored her father by ordering the Homestead....

bowling was next on the list...after dropping Lu off at Sue Sue's house the three older children and i played a game of Bowling at Gahanna Lanes. V was top scorer but Mr. K got the prize of a gumball!!

back home for a short while and then pizza and subs from Donatos thanks to Aunt Sue!!

A good good day.
A new years eve.

It has been a long and emotional year...one that i would have never ever EVER made it without my friends and family!! both near and far!! Please accept our gratitude for all of your support, forgiveness and prayer. We are better people for having known you all!

In the morning we'll awake to a New Year.
A strong and hopeful BTEAM!!!
