i'm missing my gram tonight. i've got several people on my mind that are having foot trouble...and if she were still with me..i'd just call her up and ask her who the patron saint of foot problems are...and then i'd say a little prayer for those i love. i know i'll just look it up on the web...but i'd rather call her up and ask her. ......
the weekend was busy as usual. friday night, we had hubby's boss and her husband over for dinner. they are very genuine - down home folks..and we enjoyed their visit. dinner wasn't bad and i got to use my large serving platter which i always love to do.
saturday i started fighting a cold. i went out job hunting again and even have an interview at New York and Co. on tuesday. stopped by another hotel and Barnes n Nobles as well. while hubby and V and KM went to the river,,,i got a nap in. saturday evening, Miss R and I headed down to the local theatre to see the stage version of High School Musical. the children's theater here is only one year old but boy did they put on a show. it was a sold out show and the audience was so very receptive. R looks forward to auditioning for their next production...it is The Grinch that Stole Christmas.
This morning we determined exactly what had been causing black grease stains to be appearing on our laundry (i had several mysterious spots crop up on most of my whites in the past week). The agitator had two broken 'teeth' and grease was making its way up to the swivel area. Hubby sent me out early to look for a new washer. I found a great deal (under 300) at Lowes. Now, it doesn't give any one appliance envy or anything..but it certainly meets our needs and i'm thrilled. well, actually it is bitter sweet to see the old washer out by the curb. We bought that ol' washer from an older lady the year we were married. I was checking her out at Glicks Furniture and happened to mention i was preparing to get married...you know, i was gushing of course and willing to tell anyone who would listen...anyway, we got around to appliances...she mentioned that she was selling a washer. and ,,,,,here we are almost 14 years later (we celebrate this tues)...getting a new one. hm...funny how things (possessions) link us to certain times in our lives.
well, by noon hubby had gone to pick it up and had in all plugged in and had a load in and going.
big man took his nap, the big girls and i played a game of scrabble and then i took a wee little nap.
up at 5 to get ready for the Youth Ministry cookout at church. Fr. Jerry was in the dunk tank and there were 'monster truck rides' for a buck. of course the monster truck ride was the big hit for my two boys!! R liked it too. i had to laugh...Monster Truck Rides.....this huge truck was outfitted with seat belts and the whole nine yards....and it was loud and fast...perhaps i'll mention that to the Z's back at St. C's for the Fun Fest...ha ha..i can just see this big truck roaming up Gould.
when it was all over, we grabbed Fr. Jerry and went out to Dairy Queen. It was nice to visit with him away from the crowds...he is young and vibrant. and in the middle of a huge capital campaign. our parish is moving to 'greener pastures' soon. we will have outdoor mass Labor day there. have to get directions...
well, i'm anxious to see my Aunt M and Uncle J this coming weekend...i think we'll go explore a cave!!
love to you all..have a great week!! special thoughts for those returning to school this week!
