Happy Birthday to Papa Ratzi. My cousin Matthew comments on the previous post that our Grandmother, who passed away a year ago would have loved loved watching the Popes visit. She definitely would have had the news on all day. She would have loved his red shoes and would have told me how the nuns taught school in her day. Indeed, we do suffer from not having enough religious in the classrooms. It was only in the all girls school all the way up in upstate NY that i had nuns for teacher. There, i only had three lay teachers. very different than what we experience in Emo.
we can only hope that the Pope's visit may inspire some young people who may be considering 'the life' to move and discover the next steps.
in the mean time...we've had the great pleasure of receiving a First Class Relic from Barb's sister. They are bone fragments of The Seven Blessed Martyrs of Thailand. I've not ever seen a First Class relic and i've enjoyed reading about these seven martyrs. They were killed for their witness in the 1940's during the Nazism march in Europe and Asia when imperialism was spreading rapidly.
we were told to place the relics under doug's pillow. and we have.
Hubby is having leg pain very similar to when he would have his chemo. He thinks that it is residual pain and the doctor has told him to take some over the counter type pain relievers and we will discuss that and the results of an MRI that he took yesterday when we meet with him tomorrow.
This weekend will prove to a busy one. Both Doug's father and brother will be in town and staying with us. I think they may go bowling...that is something that both doug and his father enjoy. poor Ms. R will have to roll the ball between her legs i suppose...
HOWEVER. i must tell you that yesterday when she went to softball practice, she went in flip flops with the intention of just watching because of her injury. About 25 minutes after she and daddy left, the phone rang it was doug asking me to bring her mitt and tennis shoes. Appallingly the coach wrapped the finger up with some large bandages and told her to 'suck it up'. I laughed and asked him 'did she look over at you when the coach said that' and he said 'yes', so then i asked him, 'what did you say?' and he said 'i told her to suck it up'....i laughed and laughed - she tends to be our princess pat and not a big athlete. I took her things to her and then stayed while hubby came home. She wound up playing very well with that injury. She got to bat, play catcher and several other positions.
well, i'm going to cut this short..i'm expecting a friend for lunch and i've got to go spray my living room...my darn vacuum cleaner belt frayed up and burnt and now i have that stinky burnt smell...hate when that happens....i blame the dog hair!!!
have a great day!!
