Chick Treasures

there are things that we women love..that only other women can understand. these are things that you might pick up the phone and call your best friend about because you know she'll totally GET what you are talking about!
The past couple weeks have brougt me two on the list that prompted this post...
when my parents came to visit they brought me a couple pictures that they found from Lu's baptism. i was so psyched...it is a super picture of Rose and I...we both look good!! we haven't had a great picture together in years!!! so happy.
the other chick treasure for me was last night. i had seen that Macy's is hiring so i went over to complete an appilcation, it was easy enough..they have you answer 12 pages of personality testing questions...very weird...anyway, when i was walking out i took a glance at the bathing suits. i wasn't having a particular 'fat day' and i thought i didn't know when i'd be back sans children...so i started looking through the suits. I have long felt that a two piece is a convenient as zip lock bags. i mean, there is little things worse than draggeing a soaking wet suit down over your soaking wet body...then pulling it back up and trying to get it situated just so...
i have had a couple Nautica suits and feel that the quality is well worth the price. i picked out 'a top'. it is a tank top style top. i have had one of these before. then, horrors...you have to choose a bottom. i had resigned myself this summer to considering a skirted bottom. not that i am that self consious...(hell,i wouldn't have this blog if i cared too much about what others think)..honestly,,,i'm a lazy shaver....ok, truth is out there!! deal with it! in addition,,,as if i need to give other reasons, having two little ones means that i will have to sit spralled leg on the side of the babypool for hours on end...i think i'd just look better with a little coverage...this particular style had two types of skirted bottoms. a polk a dot one and a solid. i'm not a big polka dot girl so i went with the solid. to pad my precisou ego i grab a size 16 and a size 14. one little secret that we women know is this -> bathing suites often must be purchase one size UP in order to get a correct fit. THUS...shopping for a suit isn't as painful as it could be. (gee, does this rule apply to jeans????)
i also grab a couple 'mom' suits. you know the ones....they are 'specifically designed' to suck in your gut or make you look like you have smaller boobs than you really do. they are always one piece and always solid around the bottom with some garish pattern up top. i told myself, i would allow myself to wear one of these for only ONE season.

in the fitting room i go,,,,try on the top first. i didn't have to dislocate my shoulders to get it down over my head...a good start. then, drum roll, you must pull it down over your gut...hopping and praying that it goes down FAR enough...way below the belly button and stretch marks...
it DID...oh yea...i'm cooking with gas now.
i grab the size 16 bottom..remember,,,no anxiety but...a girl can always DREAM...
too big!! hot damn....they are too big....joyous for the moment...
then dread...what if the 14's are too small.....
don't hold onto that moment too long and down with the big and up with the 14...
ALLELUIA....the clouds have opened up....the angels are singing...they don't feel not too tight. this is a good sign,,,but the real test is about to take place....
dum dum dum....
the walk to the full length mirror....
the full monty vew.....your butt, gut...oh yea, the back of your hair.... and the bend over.
this suite passes all tests....Huston we have take off!!!

just to satisfy my curiosity i did try on one of the 'mom suits'...yea, it sucked in my gut...but way not hip...i have to be a little hip..this is my first summer in a new town....

pay for it....and go home!! what a great hour and half!!!
