me - hello
them - hey, how are you?
me - good, laying here with the little ones watching clifford
them - do you think we are all still on for lunch today
me - sitting up in bed...YEAH..i've been planning on it for two weeks.
them - laugh laugh (poor girl they are thinking) ok, i'll give everyone a call and get back
phone ringing 5 minutes later.
them - yep, everyone is going....
me - thank goodness....its a snow day and a long weekend...TRAGIC
lunch good...very good actually...gathered with former corporate dynamos (like myself :)
i think that doing lunch is one of my most favorite things to do in the whole world. for a whole bunch of reasons:
cheaper - my short arms can handle that
smaller portions - my a*(&*^(*&ss can handle that
no commitment - lunch has a beginning and an end, dinner doesn't always
light of day keeps you honest - just in case the devil gets'cha
we all met up at Macaroni Grill (our second time there) i had (again) their Mozzarella tomato appetizer...i love love love that combo....i remember my grandpa liked onion, cucumber and tomato in oil...
so, i liken my little indulgence to the gene pool. anyway, this place serves balls of Mozzarella which i really prefer sliced...when i am served balls i just know those little white balls have been soaking in oil..when you get slices i just imagine a big hunk-a cheese sitting on a cutting board. we all shared some stuffed shrooms.... shrooms aren't one of my faves...bad memories.
i had a scallop salad. it was so so...the scallops were over cooked and i just don't think they mix well with the spinach on the palate.
ended the meal with a small sorbet. this little dish saved the meal for me really. the start was good...the middle not so good..and the end saved the day.
thank you to sue sue for coming and hanging out with the kids...
